In order to help those who are in an irregular situation and wish to voluntarily return to Armenia, the Armenian Fund for Sustainable Development, in cooperation with OFII (Office Français de l’Immigration et de l’Intégration) and AAAS (Association Arménienne d’Aide Sociale) has been implementing the “Return to the Sources” project since 2005.
This project has been co-financed twice in 2005 and 2007 by the European Refugee Fund, in 2008 by the French Ministry of Immigration and since November 2009 by the European Union’s “Migration and Asylum” thematic program.
The AF4SD is in charge of the follow-up, provides social support, prepares the feasibility study and, finally, assists in setting up the business creation project.
Currently, beneficiaries of the voluntary return assistance have the possibility to benefit from the assistance for reintegration through business creation.
Results of the project:
Since the start of the project in 2005, 2089 people have returned to Armenia through the Assisted Voluntary Return program and 365 micro-enterprises have been established.
Date of project implementation: since 2005
